The White Road: From Dehua to Gubbio – A Bridge Between Two Ceramic Traditions
Ceramic art becomes a universal language and an opportunity for dialogue between different cultures. Through the exhibition, The White Road: Ceramics from Dehua to Gubbiothe city of Gubbio hosted an important cultural exchange project between the Eugubian ceramic tradition and that of the Chinese city of Dehua, renowned worldwide for its exquisite white porcelain, known as Blanc de Chine. Blanc de Chine.
The exhibition brought together artists and ceramic artisans from two regions separated by great distances yet united by a long and distinguished tradition of ceramic craftsmanship. The dialogue between the porcelain of Dehua and the works of Gubbio's master ceramic artisans created an exhibition that celebrates tradition, artistic exploration, and innovation.
The central theme of the exhibition was white, the symbolic colour of Dehua porcelain—which served as the starting point for a creative dialogue between different techniques, forms, and artistic sensibilities. The initiative represented not only an important cultural event, but also a meaningful opportunity to strengthen friendship and collaboration between the two communities.
Through events, lectures, and exhibitions, The White Road reaffirmed the role of ceramic art as a shared cultural heritage and a powerful medium for dialogue between peoples. The project helped strengthen the bond between Gubbio and Dehua, one of the world's foremost centers of artistic porcelain production.
